ACNH 5 Tips to Improve Your Island Game

I've been a fan of Animal Crossing for 19 years, so you can say things are pretty serious. New Horizons for Nintendo Switch is in my opinion the best version of the game so far.

Thanks to my extensive (OK, obsessive) knowledge of the series, I always ask questions about the latest game. So I decided to collect tips (some also from my colleagues!) And to answer the questions even I had to look up. Here's how to make the most of your island vacation.

1. Make it faster

When creating Animal Crossing Items recipes, it can be boring to wait for animations every time you create something new. Accelerate this process considerably by pressing the A button several times in succession when your character starts tampering. (If you don't know, if you press B repeatedly, the animals will also speak faster).

2. Optimize your inventory

Use Mil Nook and NookStop to unlock a maximum inventory capacity of 40 places for items to get more space in your pockets. I always like to have certain craft items with me so I can create a new safety net or fishing rod immediately. In addition to tools, I always have iron clogs, wood, softwood, hardwood, stones and tree branches at hand. It consists of many items, but once you get 30 pieces of something like wood, it will automatically use a new inventory box.

3. Move carefully

If you press B while moving, you run. This scares away insects and fish and can destroy freshly planted flowers, so be careful. If you press A while moving with the net in your hand, you will steal. If you slow down A while sneaking, the net will drop immediately. This is the best way to crawl on shy insects such as moths, and it's the only way to catch tarantulas and scorpions effectively. Slowly go to them with the net raised and stop as soon as their legs begin to tremble. If they stop, continue, rinse and repeat.

4. Shake each tree during Mystery Island Tours

If you go to a mysterious island, shake each tree. There is always a piece of furniture hidden in one of them. However, you need to make sure you have just left, because there will be at least one hornet nest. Oh yeah, you can catch wasps before they attack. Just touch A when they pop out (face them).

5. How to get rid of a villager

Contrary to what you might have read, the villager with his netting or fence in your house banging his head won't let him go. (You'll probably feel guilty.) There is no proven infallible way to get rid of a villager. Believe me - if that were the case, Rodney would no longer live on my island.

However, if you have a crowded island with 10 inhabitants and a villager visiting your campsite, you can talk to the guest repeatedly to convince them to move to your island. This is key: they randomly choose a villager to evict. You can accept their first offer if they try to trade with a beast you don't like. If they do not choose the right villager, you must quit again, completely closing the software and performing the process again.

If you are trying to get rid of a peasant and you have a guest at the campsite, I recommend running straight to the site when you load the game for the first time. That way you won't lose any progress if you have to restart. If this process seems too big, your next best bet will completely ignore your future suspect. Don't talk to them unless they have a bubble above their heads, which may indicate they are thinking about movement (although bubbles above their heads can sometimes mean they want to give you something). Then you can enthusiastically encourage them to do so.
