Animal Crossing: How to get the rarest beetles in the game

Players can scratch their heads on how to get the rarest beetles, but there's a simple method they can use to fix these stubborn bugs.

In early July, over twenty new bugs were added to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. However, even the most die-hard players will have a hard time catching them all at once, as these bugs show up in different places at different times. Currently, horned beetles are most in demand due to their high prices and colorful appearance.

Unfortunately, these beetles are rare, so finding them to fill someone's Critterpedia is difficult. And when players find them, it is too easy to scare the beetles or miscalculate the distance to the trees where these bugs rest. Luckily, there's an easier way to catch rare beetles with a method that people may already know: creating Tarantula Island.

The rarest beetles in the game are the scarab (10,000 ACNH bells), giant stag (10,000 ACNH bells), cyclommatus stag (8,000 ACNH bells), golden stag (12,000 ACNH bells), giraffe stag (12,000 ACNH bells), horned atlas (8,000 ACNH bells), horned elephant (8,000 ACNH bells) ) bells) and horned hercules (12,000 ACNH bells). Scarabs and giant deer breed on trees from 23:00 to 8:00, while others only on palm trees from 5:00 to 8:00.

Players must use the Tarantula Island method, meaning they need to purchase Nook Miles tickets to go to Mystery Island after 5:00 PM (or 11:00 PM depending on what you're trying to catch). All Mystery Island needs is a beach with palm trees and the ability to breed insects. Once there, players will have to wreak ecological destruction by picking flowers, smashing rocks, and chopping down both hard wood and fruit trees. Remember that players should not cut palm trees, because beetles will not appear anywhere. Also, make sure you have enough branches and iron nuggets to make four nets before chopping down any trees.

After clearing the island (weeds is optional) eat some fruit and dig up the palm trees. Plant these palm trees on one beach, leaving enough space between the trees for you to comfortably walk and sway the net. If the trees are too close, it can be difficult to see beetles crawling up the trunks. Now players can run around the island to scare away any insects that appear on the ground or in water bodies to increase the chances of beetles appearing on the palm trees. Unfortunately, common insects such as beetles, deer, miyama deer and horned dynastids are still born out of it, but this method still offers more opportunities than aimlessly wandering around your own island.

The most difficult thing is to catch insects because too close it deters them. Standing too far and swinging the net won't catch or scare them either. A useful trick is to measure distances by exercising on more general targets like beetles. Once the correct distance is established, players can use the shovel to dig a hole on the side as a distance marker. There is another code that players can use to get close to the beetles without scaring them. By gently pressing on the R stick, the player moves forward in small movements that do not scare the beetle. This makes it easier to get closer without worrying about them flying away.

It can take players around two to three hours to fill their inventory with rare beetles, but it's worth it. From time to time, there are also scorpions to cheer up adrenaline addicts. While this method doesn't guarantee the rarest beetles, it does give you a better chance of finding this elusive golden deer.
