Animal Crossing: New Horizons' Island Hopping explained

Island hopping in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the best ways to find scarce resources, villagers and creatures.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons has become one of the best-selling Switch games since its March launch. A new feature to attract fans is the Mystery Island Tour, which allows players to explore undiscovered islands in search of items, villagers and fun. This feature sparked a new trend within the Animal Crossing: New Horizons community: island hopping.

People usually buy Animal Crossing items for playing games, but now they can get some items or a villager through island hopping . One of the most popular uses of the island hopping strategy is to search for specific villagers instead of buying Amiibo maps. Players wishing to have Raymond or Audie on their island simply have to jump around the island until they find them. Players also jump over islands to look for resources that are missing on their own island. This can be specific fruit, nuggets and rare creatures.

Every island you encounter on the Mystery Island Tour is unique. The islands are randomly generated, but follow a predetermined template that determines which resources and landscapes the island will have. This means that while some islands are similar, no two will be exactly alike.

Some islands are considered rare islands because of the scarce resources they provide. Fans have given these locations implicit names to suggest what sources they contain. These include Hardwood Island, Rugged Tree Island, Arachnid Island, Scorpion and Money Rock Island, Fin Island, Big Fish Island and Gold Rock and Scorpion Island.

Island hopping isn't cheap, though. To travel to an unexplored island, players must purchase a kilometer ticket from the Resident Services kiosk. Tickets are expensive and take the player back 2,000 miles for each ticket, so be sure to continue the challenges on Nook Miles Island. However, this is usually a worthwhile investment, as resources and pets players find on their island trips can be returned to the Blathers to complete the museum, or Nook's Cranny sold for the clocks.

Prepare for the island. After stocking up on Nook Miles, make sure you have the necessary resources for mining resources with you. Players can always buy new tools from Wilbur if they brought them, but it costs money. It's also a good idea to bring a ladder and pole to the vault, as all islands are undeveloped and have no bridges or ramps. Don't forget to empty your supplies as much as possible. The more space players have, the more resources they can take home and the more ringtones players will make by selling them.
