Does Animal Crossing have Thanksgiving?

Does Animal Crossing: New Horizons have Thanksgiving? The short answer is yes! Little has been released on what to expect, but based on what is known from previous Animal Crossing games, the islanders might have a good guess as to what the event will involve.

Seasonal changes and vacations are always exciting in the Animal Crossing franchise. They usually bring new characters visiting villagers, DIY and Animal Crossing Item furniture, so players can rest assured to see Thanksgiving-related content in the near future.

The Animal Crossing: New Horizons update trailer, which came out in September, introduced the Halloween event and announced a new update at the end of November with two NPCs not yet coming to New Horizons. However, these are not new to the series. Long-time fans will know them as Franklin's Turkey and Jingle Reindeer, which appear in November and December respectively. The events they were previously associated with are Harvest Festival and Toy Day.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons Harvest Day Event Explained

The Franklin turkey, which appears in Animal Crossing: New Leaf wearing an ironic chef's hat and apron, first appeared in the original Game Cube Animal Crossing game. It appears in most Animal Crossing titles each harvest day. He was first seen as a very skittish and paranoid figure - rightly so - when he morbidly received an invitation to be a special guest on Harvest Day, except that "guest" was written on the half-erased word "dish." In the early games, he hid behind buildings and trees, fearing the player would eat him. His role has become more sophisticated in New Leaf, where he appears on the Plaza and tells the player he intends to cook for the Harvest Festival. With pumpkins recently arriving at New Horizons, more agricultural vegetables may appear in preparation for the Harvest Festival.

Franklin allows the player to obtain various ingredients that can be obtained by fishing, harvesting crops, or from other villagers on the player's island. This is likely the formula New Horizons will follow, but will likely have its own spin in the event as seen during previous holidays and festivals. Harvest Festival takes place on the fourth Thursday of November, as does Thanksgiving. In New Leaf, Franklin told the player to find ingredients for four dishes: salad, soup, main course, and dessert. After giving him the ingredients, he rewarded the player with collecting furniture. Data on Animal Crossing earlier this year indicated cooking is coming to New Horizons, and now it seems like the perfect time to roll it out.

In addition to Harvest Festival, players can also look forward to Jingle the reindeer and Toy Day, coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in December. A New Year's event will probably follow soon after.
