How to restart the May Day maze in Animal Crossing

The May Day Tour maze event returns in Animal Crossing: New Horizons and players can earn exclusive rewards for successfully completing it. May Day is another recurring celebration in Animal Crossing: New Horizons since the game launched just over a year ago. During the 2021 event, the maze changed and it got a bit more difficult and unpredictable. The event will take place from April 29 to May 7 and players who log in to this window will be given the opportunity to visit a special May Day Tour island using the free May Day ticket they received at the airport. This island contains a maze that players can solve. At the end of the maze, just like last year, players will have the opportunity to talk to Rover and claim their reward.

To progress through the maze, players must complete familiar Animal Crossing: New Horizons activities such as crafting Animal Crossing items, digging trees and plants, breaking rocks, jumping, collecting resources, and more. However, all of this must be completed in one visit as players will not be able to return to the May Day Island later to complete it. Sometimes players can make a mistake while working on any activity or they can miss coupons for ringtones that can be found on the island. In either case, they can restart the maze, restore it to its original configuration, and try again. It does cost them though, so they have to make sure they save enough Nook Miles to cover the costs. Here's how to restart the May Day maze in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

How to call emergency services in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

To restart the May Day maze from the beginning in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, players must use the Nook phone and call the emergency services. This service costs 100 nook miles each time it is used. Once players have confirmed their payment decision and start over, they will be moved to the start of the maze and all progress will be reset. Since the maze doesn't change, players don't have to worry about navigating the new layout after a reset.

Aside from the fee, the restart has no other consequences, and as long as players have Nook Miles, they can reset as many times as needed to make sure they solve the puzzle and complete the event. This becomes especially useful when players use a resource too early or when it was not needed and are stuck in a maze because they no longer have the required resource.

After solving the maze, players will have the opportunity to chat with Rover, a famous blue cat from previous Animal Crossing games. He will give the players prizes. Once players reach it, they can also re-enter the maze and pick up calling coupons, which can later be exchanged for calling.

If Animal Crossing: New Horizons players complete the May Day maze last year, they will receive a new 2021 Photo Prize: Rover. This decoration can be hung in the player's house or anywhere in the city. The frame is customizable and, as with other framed pictures of villagers, interacting with the image provides a brief biography of Rover. Players who experience the May Day maze for the first time will receive a prize in 2020: the Rover Briefcase.
